In 1975 a group of local women met to discuss women's recreational needs in the Frankston area. Arising from this the Women's Activity Group Inc. (WAG) was born.
It serviced Frankston and the surrounding areas by providing activities directed to women, eg. recreational, self help, parenting and also addressed problems associated with attending these activities. i.e. free child care, transport and low costs.
WAG was incorporated in 1983 and had since had two names changes, Bayside Adult Community Education Inc. and now the current Belvedere Community Centre Inc.
These changes were bought about to reflect the fact that WAG was not only for women but also accepted men into classes. WAG/ Belvedere Community Centre Inc. has been housed in the Frankston area in a variety of venues over the years, its present Seaford location was purpose built by the Frankston City Council in 1991.
