Auslan Level 2 - Running in Term 3

This 6-week Auslan sign language course will help you to gain an understanding of the grammar & signs used in Auslan as well as learning to effectively communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people.

Auslan Level 1

Curious about Australian Sign Language?
Our 5 week AUSLAN Level 1 course is the perfect place to start. This pre-accredited training introduces you to the foundations of AUSLAN and Deaf culture in a welcoming, supportive environment. You’ll learn practical signs and communication skills that can be used in everyday life, work, and community settings.
Your trainer, Kelly, has completed all four levels of AUSLAN through TAFE and brings both confidence and passion to her teaching. Known for her engaging, fun, and approachable style, Kelly creates a relaxed learning space where everyone feels comfortable to participate, practice, and grow.
Whether you’re learning for personal interest, professional development, or to better connect with others in your community, this course offers a fulfilling and empowering learning experience.

Toasty Club for All Abilities
(ACFE funded)
Toasty Club is a relaxed, hands-on life skills group where adults of all abilities make simple, tasty lunches together while building confidence and independence. Participants learn everyday skills like planning and preparing food, sharing jobs as a team, and practising communication in a friendly, social setting.
Each week includes:

Craft & Culture for All Abilities
(ACFE funded)
An inclusive All Abilities class that celebrates creativity, culture, and self-expression from around the world.
Throughout the term, participants will explore different cultures, traditions, and global celebrations through hands-on craft activities. Each session offers the opportunity to learn, create, and express ideas in a supportive and welcoming environment where everyone can participate at their own pace.
The journey culminates in a special end-of-year showcase event, where participants’ creations will be proudly displayed for family, friends, and the wider community to enjoy.

Belvedere Community Centre is a Learn Local provider, and we run a range of pre-accredited adult education classes which are government (ACFE) funded *.
Learn Local providers can help you get the skills you need for study, work and life. They offer a range of training programs that can help you return to study, improve your digital, reading, writing and maths skills, gain a qualification, get a job, change careers or learn something new. There are many benefits to undertaking pre-accredited training at a Learn Local provider such as making new friends, improving your communication or preparing for further learning or work. Completing pre-accredited training can also help you to get new skills that you need for your job or even change careers.
*To be eligible for funded places you must be an Australian Citizen / Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen.

These 8 week Auslan courses will help you to gain an understanding of the grammar & signs used in Auslan as well as learning to effectively communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people. This course is taught by Tracey who is profoundly deaf. All levels commencing week 6th of February 2024.
